PARADISE
(Waimarie Smith) ©2013

VERSE
In the morning, can you hear the tui call
Can you hear the tui call. Can you?
Then in the evening when the sun goes down
And the moon is out, hold my hand

CHORUS
Can we chill underneath this pohutukawa tree,
Life is a breeze like 1, 2, 3 ahuh. Come on
Let’s take a dip in the ocean and watch the sunset
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no.
It’s gone…

VERSE 2
This is, where the taniwha was born
Where Maui drew his hook, my home
And no one can take this away from me
My land is a part of me till I’m old

CHORUS
Can we chill underneath this pohutukawa tree,
Life is a breeze like 1, 2, 3 ahuh. Come on
Let’s take a dip in the ocean and watch the sunset
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no. It’s gone…

BRIDGE
Hold my hand and raise your glass to
Life in paradise, paradise
I can take you places people only dream of
But it’s all mine in paradise

CHORUS
Can we chill underneath this pohutukawa tree,
Life is a breeze like 1, 2, 3 ahuh. Come on
Let’s take a dip in the ocean and watch the sunset
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no. It’s gone…

CODA
Time is precious that’s what we forget
Time is precious that’s what we forget oh no, it’s gone

Time is precious that’s what we forget, time is precious, oh no, it’s gone

Te Tuhi

On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to go and visit Te Tuhi Art Centre.

It was fantastic to learn about how colour can help us learn languages and mathematics.

We did some great painting and learnt how to mix colours.

We looked at:
Primary colours - red, yellow and blue

Secondary colours: green, orange and purple
We mix two primary colours to make these

Tertiary colours: lime green and red purple
We mix a primary and a secondary to make these

Check our the photos and writing from our trip.

Make your own photo slideshow at Animoto.

I liked art because we did this with Miss Charlesworth. But it was six in the colour wheel not eight. The one that we did was eight. We coloured in blue, red, yellow and green and red, purple and lime green and orange. That was all the colours that we finished. I feel happy because I like the art. The first part was walking and going on the green bus.

We're going on a bear hunt!

We read a book called "We're going on a bear hunt" and a poem called "Teddy bears".

We sure love bears! We had a teddy bears picnic, and did some great writing and art, check it out!

We did some great writing too! Have a read.

I love my teddy bear because she is snuggly and cuddly. She is soft as a cloud. Her name is Flower. She is fluffy. She is golden and brown. TR

My friendly teddy bear is soft. His name is David. He’s orange and gold. He is fluffy. He’s got soft ears and he’s got sparkly eyes. He smiles like a rainbow. He’s cute and he plays with me everyday.

My teddy bear is called Green Lantern. He is a super hero. He is orange and brown. He is also some yellow. EU

My teddy bear is orange, yellow and brown too. Her name is Sparkles. She is soft as my monkey’s fur. She likes hugs and kissing. She likes me! While I’m at school she snoops for soup. LW

Check out our art.
We are learning about painting skills. We could either cross hatch or swipe paint across the background using cardboard. It was great to layer them up. We are also learning about quality work and leaving no white space, colouring with the right colours and colouring inside the lines. Aren't they great!

Lightning writing

On Thursdays, we have a super busy day. So we decided to do some lightning writing. We got given a word, like 'cat' or 'dog' and had three minutes to write what ever we could. We did such a great job! It was fun to write all of our ideas down!

Holidays

In writing we wrote about our holidays and tried to make our stories interesting by answering the questions "who, what, where, how and why." Can you see where we did this? We are learning to do quality work by colouring in the lines. This helps us to take pride in our work. Didn't we do a good job? Have a read of our fantastic stories! Holidays on PhotoPeach
